Upskill in Bike Maintenance

Our passion is to empower local people to learn how to maintain and repair their own bicycles! We have two routes for our bicycle maintenance training:

1. Hands-on bicycle maintenance courses

We run a programme of courses from our Bike Cabin. These are catered to meet all levels:

A. Youth workshop (14+)
B. Bike Repair for Women
C. General Bike Maintenance (short and longer courses)

Please visit our calendar/ booking page to view upcoming events and book your spot. There is usually a charge for these courses but please contact us for concessions or if your organisation would like us to deliver a course.

2. Bike Cabin Volunteering

If you're interested in working with us regularly, we offer a limited number of placements for local individuals looking to develop their bicycle maintenance skills in our Bike Cabin through regular volunteer work. Sessions are usually weekly at the Bike Cabin on a 6 or 12-week basis.

What our training entails ...

  • Fundamentals and workshop basics
  • Bike anatomy and terminology
  • Routine maintenance and inspection:
  • Braking systems; wheels & tyres
  • Steering and frame components
  • Customer services skills & basic administration

Our focus is on maintenance, employability and improving English skills, and our priority is to support members of our community who have difficulty accessing the employment market (e.g. long-term unemployed, New Scots). Previous volunteers have achieved the Bronze Velotech Cycle Maintenance Award.

Please contact us using the form below if you think that you, or someone you know, would benefit from this service.
